Let your neck be free…
Allow your neck to be free…
All it requires is a thought.
Firsts first, seconds second, thirds third and then all at once.
FIRST!
The joint where the skull and the spine come together is an incredibly valuable and dynamic interconnection. It is where the last two vertebrae of the spine, C1 and C2 connect to the skull and where the spinal cord connects through the spine to the brainstem. This interconnection needs to remain unconstrained. It is necessary therefore that the first and foremost directional thought be ‘Allow the neck to be free’. And it is to be a thought because the freedom in this connection cannot be brought about by an action.
Think: ’Allow your neck to be free’.
The alternative to this is the pulling down of the skull onto the spine. This backward and downward pull onto the spine constricts all the neurological communication flowing through the central nervous system and spinal cord to the brain. All the information coming from the nervous system is consequently received and also perceived with lower resolution than it would be when the nervous system is given due integration and freedom.
Therefore just to know and accept that this connection ought to remain unrestricted can be of great benefit! For awareness of this is a good start to developing better use.
I will reiterate, in order to invite some freedom into this area you merely want to allow it.
A freedom is not something that we can do but it is something that we can allow.
The cognitive thought, ‘Allow my neck to be free’ is all that is required.
This freedom when it is nurtured through conscious guidance results in the experience of ease and presence of mind.
The pressure of a hard day comes down and into us like a heavy load. It is, therefore, a remarkable skill and privilege to be able to direct this tension yourself so that you are not at the mercy of it and that it does not affect you adversely in your experience and your functioning.
Learn to cognitively think:
‘Let the neck be free’
And remember that you cannot do a freedom but you can allow it through cognitive guidance and conscious direction.
All it requires is a thought.
